Sidney Yu’s lab, I discovered a COPI–TRAPPII–Rab18 signaling mechanism in LD homeostasis. During my time as a research associate in Dr. Dysregulation of lipogenesis or lipolysis greatly contributes to the pathogenesis of several human diseases, including obesity, diabetes, and fatty liver disease. Lipid droplets (LDs) are highly dynamic organelles that not only store neutral lipids but also are involved in multiple cellular processes. The GTPase Rab43 Controls the Anterograde ER-Golgi Trafficking and Sorting of GPCRs. Rab26 Modulates the Cell-Surface Transport of α2-Adrenergic Receptors from the Golgi. This work was published in 2017 (Cell Reports, 2017).ġ) Li C, Fan Y, Lan TH, Lambert NA, Wu G *. I also found that manipulation of Rab43 function significantly alters the surface presentation and signaling of all GPCRs studied without affecting non-GPCR membrane proteins. During my postdoctoral position in Dr Guangyu Wu’s lab, I determined the role of Rab26 (a Ras-like small GTPase involved in vesicle-mediated secretion) in the cell surface export of α(2)-adrenergic receptors (JBC 2012, 2003). However, the mechanisms underlying their surface targeting and sorting are poorly understood. G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) constitute the largest super-family of cell-surface signaling proteins. Regulation of anterograde trafficking of GPCRs
